Kennesaw State University Athletics
The Kennesaw State Owls compete in the Peach Belt conference of NCAA Division II. A highlight of Kennesaw State Owl athletics was the men’s NAIA baseball championship won in 1994. The following year the women’s softball team won its first NCAA Division II championship. And in 1996 both the softball and baseball teams won their respective Division II championships. Other NCAA championships for KSU include women’s soccer (2003), men’s basketball (2004), and cheerleading (2004). The Owls have also won 25 regional championships and 27 Peach Belt Conference Championships.
Intercollegiate sports offered at KSU include baseball, golf, softball, tennis, soccer, and men’s and women’s basketball and cross country/track. The school colors are black and gold. The Athletic Department provides a sports medicine staff that provides therapy and medical support to all student athletes.
Kennesaw State University is an NCAA Division I school, with baseball, golf, basketball, cross-country, and track for men and basketball, softball, tennis, cross-country and track, and soccer for women. The team nickname is the Owls. There is also a competitive cheer team.
The athletic program began in 1981, and the University achieved membership in the Georgia Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the National Association of Intercollegiate State University Athletics in 1982-1983. It was provisionally accepted as a member of the NCAA in 1992 and has since become a full member.
Kennesaw State athletes have won national championships in baseball, cheerleading, softball, women’s soccer, and men’s basketball. The men’s basketball team won the regional champions in 2004. The University has also won championships within the Peach Belt Conference. Three individual national championships were also won in women’s cross-country and track and field.
Sports facilities include separate fields for baseball, soccer, and softball. There is also an outdoor track, and an indoor athletic facility.
